Conference Speaking
One-on-One Coaching
The managing director of a media consultancy specialising in interactive television was launching her company at a conference in Berlin where she had been asked to speak.
Over two half days, we worked with her on the content, structure and delivery of a presentation that would inform and educate the 500 delegates in Berlin. Many were senior executives from companies that she saw as potential clients.
She spoke on the second afternoon of the second day. The impact of Black Isle's work was immediate. Having kept her presentation to only a third of the time allotted, she was able to spend 20 minutes answering questions - something that most speakers had not been able to do during the conference.
At the end of the conference, 20 out of the 25 companies she had targeted approached her to set up meetings. 18 of them are now clients.
Even more interesting was that she had never presented at a conference before and each of the other speakers were highly experienced.
The difference between her and the other presenters was that her personality shone through during her time onstage. The audience were not distracted by fancy graphics or complicated slides. In fact, we reduced her slides from 30 to 6. She interacted with the audience naturally and that is why people wanted to do business with her.
